I hope you have to wrestle with this play, even if just for a little bit.
#Matter is a short play we got to film on Zoom, thanks to the innovative folks at Dallas Children's Theatre. They've launched a social justice series that brings some light to tough topics around the many justice oriented conversations many of us find ourselves having today. The plays are designed so that you can watch them with your kids, and maybe have some conversations afterward.
Given the title, you can probably imagine what this show might be about. I hope you'll give it a chance before you assume or dismiss it.
I spent a lot of time thinking about how we were going to "stage" this show - props, backgrounds, lights - ya know - all the things.
I finally resolved that we were going to let the text do the work.
Art - it imitates life. And even though we can't physically walk into theatre spaces, I'm grateful that art still has place and is continuing to create opportunities for conversation, even the hard ones.
